Mindfulness and Yuru Exercise

I started consulting a psychiatrist last October.

I had been suffering from psychosomatic disorders such as buzzing in the ear, lack of concentration, sleeping problems, memory disturbance, feeling of worthlessness, obsessional ideas, sense of anxiety, hypobulia, and inability to observe  the order of precedence. The symptoms hadn't started recently. I had been annoyed with lots of the above for a long time, but I had never dared to consult a doctor.

It required a lot of courage to make an appointment with a psychiatrist for the first time. My doctor sounded impressed with my grit.

My younger brother has been seeing a psychiatrist for more than 20 years. He has schizophrenia. He was diagnosed as a schizophrenic when he was a university student.

There are some people who are seeing psychiatrists in my husband's family and relatives, too. Some of us share the same doctor. So the mental disorders are very common problems for my family at least. I think such a surrounding might have made it easier for me to consult a doctor before it's too late.

I was diagnosed as having depression, panic disorder, and obsessive-compulsive disorder.

Beside taking medicines, I am struggling to improve my state of mind through trying many things, such as music therapy, light bodily exercises, taking small breaks, reading books on mindfulness and my own sickness.

Side effects of the medicines include drowsiness during daytime, which hinders me from working properly. Also, I have been experiencing considerable weight gain.

Despite all of the setbacks, I feel my condition has been gradually improving. The buzzing in the ear has almost worn off, and I have less sleeplessness these days.

The light bodily exercise which I started practicing recently is 'Yuru Exercise'. It was developed by Hideo Takaoka, who also was a professor of P. E. when I was a university student. So this is not the first time to practice it for me. I just remembered taking his classes in the past and thought I should do that again.

This is the book I bought recently.
It is about how we can improve mental problems with Yuru Exercise.

The lady called Nido-san was also my teacher for skiing. She's also a professional pianist and very versatile.

It is very funny to see the people I used to worship as mentors appear on TV with quite a few famous TV personalities.

I was also learning Shinto Muso-ryu Jojutsu and karate with Hideo Takaoka as my grand master when I was a university student. I hope I can practice Jojutsu again, too.

I think it is great that remembering my university days and practicing the things I learned then again is helpful for recovering from my hardship.
When I dance to random stream music practicing 'Yuru Exercise' with my sons, I can feel I am retrieving myself and relaxed, and eventually sense of happiness.
